The Largest and most prestigious awards event for the housing sector. The 2019 UK Housing Awards took part in London’s exclusive meeting and events venue, the Grosvenor House Hotel and brought together 1300+ senior leaders and their teams to celebrate the best in housing.
Brief
Showcase Avi’s knowledge and previous experience of delivering events at the Grosvenor House Hotel, meant that in-house sound and lighting systems were utilised to hit tight deadlines and budget restraints. Our team’s technical expertise and great working relationship with the event staff and venue ensured that the potential of existing equipment was maximised to create the wow factor worthy of such a large awards show.
A twin projection screen solution was chosen and event branding hung from venue trusses. Utilising the in-house audio system we mapped the room to ensure coverage and installed floor mounted equipment to cover the dead spots around the stage. The lighting system was programmed by our designer utilising the in-house equipment. Powerful beam effects were created by a supplementing fixture around the front edge of the stage.
A DDA compliant bespoke stage ramp was constructed and installed. Perspex internally lit plinths were positioned onstage and glowed to create a contrast to the star cloth. Content creation was managed by the Showcase AVi team which included the awards slide deck and opening scene high impact videos.
All walk up stings were mixed live and played by the ‘house band’. Once the awards were complete the band continued into the early hours performing at the afterparty. Sally Philips hosted the event and provided a comedy routine pre award show.
The audio and lighting at the afterparty included our CA Line array digital consoles and a selection of moving head lights to create an afterparty vibe on the balcony within the event space.
Delivery
From arrival at the venue, offload, installation, rehearsals and the live event, delivery was seamless and successful. The event was installed safely and on time, ahead of scheduled rehearsals and the event was packed down and loaded back on the truck before the client tenancy agreement was up.
The venue had to be clear by 09:00am the following morning as the next production was loaded in and set up – a long 23hr day for the team with a successful event and happy client. 3D Renders, CAD and space plans were designed and produced by Showcase AVi and submitted to the venue and client for approval pre event.

As with over 90% of Showcase clients a repeat and loyal relationship has seen another awards delivered for this client.
