Lifecycle19, Europe’s biggest retention marketing conference for retailers took place in October 2019 at Printworks in London, with an action-packed two days of talks from some of the most innovative, customer-focused brands in the UK and beyond.

Brief

To provide design and technical services for the Lifecycle 2019 event. After seeing our previous work within this space, the client wanted us to provide an industrial yet colourful event with the ‘wow’ factor expected by their delegates. We were briefed to supply all aspects for the conference, which included the production management, design, set and stage, graphic print, audio visual elements, furniture and exhibition stands. There were a number of spaces to design and supply, which had specific parameters:

  • Main stage with large screen with 450 capacity
  • Breakout stage with 250 capacity
  • Networking lounge areas with ample seating
  • Exhibition stands with differing sizes, suitable for varied sponsorship requirements

Solution

We provided a bespoke built 12m x 6m projection screen for the main stage, which was projected on using our 21k laser projectors in conjunction with our 4k S3 screen management system. Our line array speaker system was flown from the truss with additional front fill speakers and relays to ensure the audio was evenly distributed across the room.

To fulfil the requirements for the breakout stage we provided a set backdrop using our beMatrix system, upon which we attached a printed dye-sub graphic and mounted an 82″ screen. Further to this, we strategically positioned two relay screens further down the room alongside a 10 speaker PA to ensure full visual and audio coverage for the audience.

We needed to ensure the networking spaces of this event were sufficiently lit and reflected the colourful aspect of the brief while keeping within budget was the challenge. To achieve this we made use of our SGM Q7 lights with Chauvet Colorado LED pars, which lit both the exhibition and networking spaces. We placed a range of soft seating and tables to ensure ample space for working and networking. The networking spaces were made more colourful by carefully selecting bright pink and yellow colours for the carpet.

We created bespoke designs for the exhibition stands using floor standing truss structures which were then clad with set walls, which in turn were wrapped with printed graphics. We uplit the truss legs in an industrial architectural style, to make a feature of the structure, which complimented the conference venue. The exhibition stands were then furnished with soft seating, tables and shelving units as per the requirements of the exhibitors, to allow them to comfortably and successfully market their product and hold meetings with prospective clients.

Outcome

The client stated that the design and technical solutions we provided far exceeded their expectations and entirely fulfilled the brief. As such it was considered a complete success on all sides.
