We were appointed by Sytner Group to design, supply and install a permanent LED mesh column that would span the entire height of the building at the flagship Audi car showroom in West London. At the time of the commission this was the world’s largest Audi car showroom.
brief
The brief was to design a technical communication screen solution to be located in the middle of the showroom, with the aim for the display to become the focus and heartbeat. We expanded the client’s initial brief to create a solution that used multiple inputs, so allowing multiple screens to be played on different floors.
solution
We designed and manufactured a 15mm SMD LED mesh screen measuring 19m x 6m, it consisted of 304 panels, each containing 466,944 individual pixels. As far as we could verify, at the time of installation, this was the tallest LED screen in Europe.
The central column had a dramatic lighting effect displaying the brand’s colours, a glow that could be seen from all areas of the building. After dusk the screen pulsed a red heartbeat, visible to passing traffic.
We partnered with a specialist large screen format content management company to develop a system to enable the client to manage the system.
delivery
Installation was successful and ran smoothly. To give our client peace of mind and in line with the product and manufacturing guide lines, we designed a five-year service plan. This involves a quarterly visual inspection quarterly and an annual service.
A full parts package is stored within our distribution centre, allowing for immediate replacements. We have also provided Audi with a dedicated email inbox, enabling immediate support.
