The Local Government Association’s Annual Conference held virtually for the first time during the pandemic. The conference is the biggest event in the local government calendar to address the latest issues affecting local government.
brief
Showcase entered a competitive tender process for this conference. The brief changed from a green screen event, to an in-person event and then finally a fully virtual conference. For the virtual conference Showcase was briefed to provide a platform that would act as a virtual event venue. The brief also asked for live streaming, project management and data analytics.
solution
Showcase employed their own EVENT@ platform, due to its ability to be adapted to LGA’s specific requirements. These included disability enablement, live subtitles and an on-demand service.
For the virtual conference Showcase created lower thirds, open sting animations, bumper videos and general content creation as well as on-demand video content for post-event. Showcase took control of live streaming the completely virtual presenters, these included prominent officials. They created a virtual ‘Green Room’ which acted as a waiting room for the speakers before they were assigned to relevant sessions. In response to the client’s brief they ensured the breakout sessions had a high level of production quality as did the main plenary and parallel plenary sessions.
Showcase used a mixture of VMIX equipment and also hardware via Black Magic ME2 Production Suite. In response to the LGA needing event data they kept the platform live for three months to capture additional post-conference data, this data was provided by Showcase’s own system EVENTalytics, which gave LGA easy to read results.
