Venue:
Event type: Award Show
About the event:
The LaingBuisson Awards celebrate businesses that set new standards of excellence within their industries. Now in their 18th year of recognising excellence, they are judged independently and objectively and focus on the people providing the care as well as their advisors.
The LaingBuisson Awards’ audience comes from a wide range of specialisms across UK health and care, with the majority of guests being key decision makers in their organisations.
Brief:
To design and supply event production for a high-impact set and stage for the awards, including the rigging solution. Showcase was also commissioned to film the event with live camera relay to the screen and provide the technical staff and equipment for the 1,200 audience members.
Showcase was also briefed to ensure the event was on brand, including the production of slide content, creation of wayfinding signage, sponsor and event graphics.
Solution:
The set required an impressive rigging solution for the flown projection, audio and lighting. The stage’s backdrop was1 as well as a 30Sqm edge blended screen to display the full-screen slide content, overlay live camera and videos.
To ensure the event was dramatic, they used high impact lighting via moving heads and haze for the awards lighting, in conjunction with room up-lighting. To illuminate the winning table, they created a system that allowed them to programme the table centres’ lighting.
Showcase created and produced a full-screen slide deck and walk-up music stings. As well as providing the media walls and wayfinders, they were given the responsibility of printing the 60 page ‘Book of The Night’. All of the sponsors’ branding was handed over to Showcase to organise.
Delivery:
Showcase provided 18 dedicated staff members for the installation and derig, as well as 10 operation staff on the night itself, including a show caller.
Due to venue restrictions, two 18-tonne trucks were used to deliver and collect the equipment. The client was very keen that the event ran smoothly, due to previous bad experiences with other event providers. Showcase managed expectations around event delivery and content production – with the awards content finalised seven days pre event, they delivered the awards successfully and on time.
