This three-day event attracted 1200 delegates with multiple key note sessions and 5 “lab” stages. The Congress brings together the leaders of the global retail industry from the greatest retail icons to the most innovative start-ups and disruptors; from national market leaders to the most international. For three days each year, the Congress provides the insight to help shape the retail future and shows retailers how to meet the needs of their consumers in this era of rapid change.
brief
The brief for 2017 was to be bigger and better than 2016, which had been World Retail Congress’ best event to date. The capacity of the main arena needed to grow but the space needed to feel intimate, whilst still having impact. The exhibition space also needed to grow for 2017.
As designers (creative and technical) for every aspect of the Congress, including the Awards and Aftershow parties, we needed to dig deep into our imaginations on ways to add the required glitz and glamour.
solution
The focal point of the centre stage was the Kabuki reveal that we designed. We also brought in worldwide talent including British soprano Faryl Smith who had wowed audiences on Britain’s Got Talent as well as a series of aerial acts that performed in front of a subtle, but beautiful silk backdrop.
We provided visually stunning aspects for the Congress, Awards and Aftershow party including: backdrop layers, presentations, holding slides, videos and all their content. The Congress really stretched our creative and technical skills.

The Operations Director for World Retail Congress, who couldn’t have been more thrilled with the support she received from us stated: “Showcase has superseded the solution and production they provided in 2016 – the wonderful team did it again and everyone loved this new concept for the congress. It’s a one-off to hold an event in this way with live audio, in the round and then silent streams, however they delivered and were on point the whole way through.
