UK Construction Week is the UK’s largest construction event. Held at NEC Birmingham the event brings together all stakeholders within the built environment across every facet of design, build and product innovation. UK Construction Week (UKCW) is FREE to attend and consists of multiple sections: Build, Building Tech, Civils, Energy & HVAC, Surface & Materials and Timber, the newly launched Concrete Expo and Grand Designs Live.
Brief
Having worked on the 2018 event and it’s success, the event organisers decided to repurpose the same main stage and regeneration hub designs. New concepts for the backdrops had to be designed for the Digital Construction, Workplace and Energy & HVAC Hubs.
Install
Our project management team were on site for the install and remained on site to oversee the three event live days and the de-rig.The project comprised of two artic trucks of equipment, set, staging and print.
Solution & Delivery
Our remit included the creation of five key areas:The Main Stage – this was repurposed from the previous year and included:
- Custom set wrapped in white projection material with painted cubes each side to compliment the content design
- Stage layout considered to allow mid entry for presenters to ensure no shadows were cast from the front projection
- 4 x 30K laser projectors
- Disguise D3 and Barco E2 control systems and MacBook Pro playback machines
- D&B Line array and point source speakers with a QL5 FOH console and Shure Radio Mics
- Fully LED lighting rig with Avolites control

- Angular stage with foamex print branded fasica
- PA System with Yamaha digital console and Shure radio mics
- 82” Screen mounted on the set connected to a seemless switcher
- LED and generic lighting package

Outcome
The show was a success and we received excellent feedback from the client and presenters.
