Venue: Old Billingsgate London
Event name: Live & Retail Week Awards
Type: Live event which included conference, exhibitions and awards

About the event:

Retail Week Live is the UK retail festival that connects, inspires and challenges the retail ecosystem to create efficient and purposeful businesses to succeed in an ever-changing world.
The event also includes the most highly anticipated awards evening of the retail calendar.

Brief:

The brief to Showcase for 2022 was to create a design and layout that worked in Old Billingsgate Market, a venue that is famous for being challenging. The stage design also had to work for the awards ceremony that took place immediately after the event. Like all events Showcase create, sustainability was front of mind.

The brief was to create the entire event including: the conference and exhibition, exhibition stands & booths, electrics, signage and furniture.

Solution:

Showcase created a stage that whilst keeping true to the clients brand had an industrial feel to it that complimented the venue’s surroundings. They also kept in mind the logistical challenge they were presented with, that being the awards taking place in the same venue, whilst never comprising on the creativity or technical input.

An example of how Showcase delivered sustainability was an exhibitor’s stand that was made entirely out of recycled, reusable and sustainable materials.

Delivery:

Showcase displayed their creative, technical and logistical skills throughout the event. The conference and exhibition pushed the creativity & technology and the awards ceremony was a massive success, due in no small part to Showcase’s ability to transform the venue.

This two-day event took two days to install with an eight-hour dismantle and transformation into the awards ceremony and then a further six-hour final derig.

In total Showcase created, space planned, rendered and manufactured: the main stage, two breakout stages, two VIP lunch spaces, the speaker lounge, four networking lounges, registration, two cloakrooms, 20 exhibition stands of which five were bespoke tailored designs and of which one was a fully recyclable and sustainable stand, plus 18 bespoke exhibition start-up pods. They also provided 1100 pieces of furniture and over 50 plants/trees.

The Showcase management team consisted of: a dedicated creative director, two project managers, exhibition manager and a furniture project manager.

The crew was made up of the following: speaker preview technician, digital content manager, show caller, auto cue operators, 14 technicians, two camera operators, 20 carpenters, six furniture installers, four electricians, four print signage installers, four plant installers plus 30 local crew for installation and 40 for dismantle.
