Held at the Emirates Old Trafford Manchester 2019, The Women in Housing Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of outstanding women working in housing. The awards recognise great individuals and high-performing teams and this year they introduced a new Woman of the Year category to recognise a truly inspirational ambassador for women in housing.
Brief
After delivering a successful 2018 WIHA event for Ocean Media we were able to discuss room layout options with them, in order to increase their revenue streams and seating capacity. With the benefit of previous experience of the venue we had a great working relationship with the in-house rigging company and event managers. This helped the event to run successfully on the night as well as creating alternative solutions for the look, feel and design of the awards ceremony.
Solution
We chose a single 15m x 4m screen option with an edge blend and utilised our S3 projector along with Panasonic laser projectors. A further relay screen of 10m was positioned at the rear of the room, to allow all the delegates access to view live camera content.
Our D&B Y-Series line array was installed and hung from the venue truss alongside relay speakers to ensure effective audience coverage for video and audio stings, the comedian and opening speeches.
Lighting was designed to be impactful and provide dramatic enhancements, improve ambience and maximise branding. A DDA compliant stage and ram was also installed.
Perspex internally-lit plinths were positioned on stage; they glowed, creating a contrast with the star cloth. Content creation was managed by us, this included the awards slide deck and high impact videos for the opening scene.
All walk up stings were pre-edited, and cued via the Showcaller.
Outcome
The event was a success and Head of Conference and Awards thanked the proactive approach and professionalism of the team.
