Venue: Park Plaza Westminster Bridge
Event type: Confex
About the event:
Retail Week Live has, for years, been the leading retail gathering where ideas are shared, strategies are debated and solutions are formed. It is a space that stimulates conversation and collisions – of both ideas and people.
In 2024, for the first time, Retail Week collaborated with The Grocer, the market-leading weekly magazine covering the FMCG sector. Bigger and better than ever, over two days the brightest and most curious minds across retail and FMCG talked openly about the things that matter.
Brief:
To design and build the following stages: Main Stage, Tech & Digital, People & Wellbeing & Future Leaders Zone and the Consumer Zone. The AV was also Showcase’s responsibility.
Showcase was tasked with ensuring the stages and the expo areas they created were designed and situated in such a way that would encourage visitor flow throughout the event. One of the most important elements of this brief was due to budget reductions, Showcase needed to find clever ways to still create an inspiring event.
Solution:
To keep within the tighter budget Showcase used their space planning skills to repurpose existing materials to create the four stages. All four of the stages were home to Q&A sessions, when the main plenary sessions were not running, the stages went into ‘ silent headset scenarios – this was to reduce noise as all four stages were in the same room.
Another important aspect of this event was the Start-Up Alley, this was a specific networking area for start-up companies. Showcase created a selection of 15 small pod stands that were small Ali-frame systems. The furniture for this section of the event came from Showcase’s own boutique collection. Showcase also created three full-size exhibition stands, all of which involved individual branding.
When it came to the AV aspect of the event they supplied the full event production for all stages which included LED for the main stage, audio and lighting along HD screens for smaller stages.
Delivery:
Showcase provided more than 40 crew members, who worked across all of the project areas, to help create this event. This two-day event involved a build-up of two days and an evening dismantle. The teamwork of the crew was particularly impressive as Showcase had another event going into the venue straight after for another client, so the two teams collaborated to swap over the core elements that changed between events.
