Not a definitive list, but looking at the past month’s events, more a helpful insight on how we go about creating live and digital events, be they exhibitions, conferences, seminars or gala dinners and award ceremonies.
Open with a bang
Make a statement. We were given free rein on Insurtech Insights’ largest European Insurtech event, a recent live event at O2 Intercontinental. As long as it was within the brand guidelines and creative, we got the go ahead. We designed and built five stages, each with its own identity, we called upon our expertise in content creation, creative lighting and soundscapes, large scale prints backdrops, trees, furniture, live camera relay and recording, to name but a few of the event skills we used.
Pick a top venue
Getting it right is imperative, the venue needs to be easily accessible, have top facilities for both exhibitors and visitors and have an atmosphere that doesn’t send everyone off to sleep.
Last month we made two of London’s top venues our home. First off it was Intercontinental O2 for Insurtech Insights, which is located in historic Greenwich, this purpose built conference centre features the UK’s largest pillar-free ballroom, accommodating over 3,000 guests. It also boasts 18 additional meeting spaces delivering the optimum environment for successful events.

We then headed back to a venue that needs no introduction, ExCeL. Here we were exhibitors at Confex, as well as designing, building & sponsoring the VIP lounges at The Event Production Show & Confex. What makes this such a great international exhibition and conference venue is its location in the Royal Docks area of Newham, East London. Its 100-acre site is on the northern quay of the Royal Victoria Dock in London Docklands, between Canary Wharf and London City Airport.

Bring a brand to life
There’s no point in a live event, if it’s not on-brand and that’s the client’s brand and not your own. Case in point is the recent roadshow we have been on for McCarthy Stone, developer and manager of retirement communities in the United Kingdom. Every last element of the event reflected their brand, including all event signage, display panels, printed materials and give aways. One in a series of countrywide events that we are delivering for them, every one conveying their brand message and vision.
Put the live into streaming
We started a series of quarterly live stream events for BlueFort Security. They commissioned us to create the virtual platform as well as live streaming the event.
We treat our digital events, be they virtual or hybrid events, the same as live events, giving them the same creative and technical input. This is how we host them, provide add-on benefits and bring them to life.
We created Event@, a dedicated streaming platform, to be the home of your virtual event. This is no live streaming one-stop-shop template, it’s a tailored flexible virtual event web portal for hybrid and virtual events. It’s been created especially for the events industry, based on research and discussions with the end-user, the platform is available at an entry-level model to which you can add your own bolt-ons, so making it a truly bespoke offering.
Event specific software
We created EVENTalytics in response to our clients complaining about the fact that the post-event data they were receiving was indigestible and impossible to use in any useful format. So we came up with our own event software to be used in conjunction with Event@, it tracks attendees movement whilst they are on the event, tracking what people have watched and for how long, as well as giving vital information about the delegates themselves, such as geographical location and job role. The addition of EVENTalytics provides analytics of the data presented in easy to adsorb reports; top level graphs and tables rather than lines and lines of raw data. These enlightening professional reports can then in turn be presented to sponsors and stakeholders enabling them to see their return on investment as well as being used to secure future event sponsorship.
The secret to a great digital event is excellent live streaming. Showcase doesn’t just point a camera at the event and press play. We can offer pre-recored content streamed into single or multiple broadcasts. The content can include, presentations, imagery, videos, sponsor messaging and advertising.

Create a stylish and comfortable environment
Often seen by some as an after thought, we believe getting the right furniture for an event is a key point on the ‘to do’ list. It’s obviously got a practical use, such as comfort. An audience who feels comfortable will concentrate on the event and so stay longer and be more engaged. A presenter slouching in an awkward sofa will not give the right impression and a bulky table on an exhibition stand will take up valuable space.
Furniture is also a clever way to impart your brand qualities, each style of chair, desk, cupboard etc. will portray a different personality, so it’s important to choose carefully.
