Venue: ExCeL, London
Event type: Conference & Exhibition
About the event:
HOMES UK is the largest free-to-attend conference and exhibition of its kind. Bringing together over 4,000 housing sector professionals to discuss how to build and maintain high-quality, sustainable homes in communities where people will thrive.
Brief:
Showcase was asked to design and build two main stages, three breakout stages and one networking lounge/workshop area. Just as they did in 2021 Showcase was briefed to put sustainability front of mind, when designing and selecting materials.
Solution:
Showcase not only answered the brief but went one step further. Their proposition was to not only use materials such as natural FSC procured timber, cork sheeting and recyclable prints & materials but also design a scheme for each space where it could be reused over two shows in 2023, in addition to this year’s event. Showcase achieved this by utilising the digital screens for sponsorship opportunities rather than usual graphic walling, this meant it would not be date-lined or event specific.
Designing and manufacturing in this way meant that with only a small refurb fee for each show the client can change the colours of certain elements painted in water-based colours on stage sets and trims. The result being a different identity at each show utilising the brand specific colour scheme of each specific show.
Delivery:
Showcase created two main stages, three main stages and one networking lounge/workshop area, all of which are now reusable. Other reusable elements included, Showcase’s own furniture and AV equipment. All print was on recyclable material which included material fabrics and boards. In keeping with sustainability, all the plants were living vegetation, as opposed to faux plastic.
The two stands stands and lounge that Showcase created were in the modular form, meaning they can be reused in different configurations for the shows in 2023. All set and stage build elements are being held in the client store facility at Showcase’s warehouse.
To further enhance their commitment to sustainability Showcase also covered the additional cost directly with their trucking partner to convert all haulage for the event to HVO palm oil free bio fuel thus reducing their carbon footprint. Showcase also planted 100 trees against the manufacturing elements of the design to offset what was made using natural timber products.
HOMES UK involved: a two-day build, a two-day show & one evening dismantle.
